Glasgow Rangers: Fans delighted with Jon Flanagan’s departure from Ibrox

On Tuesday, Glasgow Rangers confirmed that six players will be leaving as free agents at the end of this season.

Those to depart are Wes Foderingham, Jason Holt, Jak Alnwick, Jon Flanagan, Jordan Rossiter and Andy Halliday. The latter’s exit, in particular, is likely to upset the club’s supporters, especially given the fact he is a boyhood ‘Gers fan.

However, the departure of Flanagan does not appear to have been taken the same way by most fans. The right-back joined on a free transfer from Liverpool in 2018 and ended up making 39 appearances in all competitions. He was never really able to nail down a spot in Steven Gerrard’s starting XI and he featured just nine times this term – it is no surprise that he is being allowed to leave for free.
