The resident Red Devils in the Transfer Tavern have been in despondent mood over the festive period due to a couple of disappointing results in the Premier League.
If there were any lingering hopes of winning the title at Manchester United prior to Christmas, they have certainly been crushed now by their failure to record victory in their last two matches. In United’s most recent Premier League fixtures, Jose Mourinho led his side to back to back 2-2 draws against Leicester City and Burnley despite dominating the game for large spells in both fixtures.
Now that we are entering a new year, it is time for Mourinho to reflect on his squads capabilities and decide which players have a role to play in United’s future.
At this moment in time, the biggest consideration for Mourinho will concern whether the players in his squad are capable of bridging the gulf in class that currently exists in Manchester between United and City.
There are a number of players within United’s squad who will enter the final 6 months of their contract on January 1st, which will force the club to start making big decisions in the months to come.
One player whose contract is set to expire at the end of June 2018 is former Evertonian Marouane Fellaini, and considering he has only played 9 times in the league this year, it appears his future will continue away from Old Trafford.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Fellaini is hoping to earn a contract worth £170,000 per week, much to the fury of the United fans.
Judging by the reaction on Twitter, the United fans are almost unanimous in their opinion regarding Fellaini’s demands for such a lucrative contract.
Here’s what the United fans had to say about Fellaini’s contract situation…

Let him go…we dont want to resign anybody who wouldnt even get a starting role on any of the top 6 clubs roster…let this be the start of getting rid of the dead wood and truly rebuilding..contract end, let these guys go

He is clearly deluded and should be honoured a club like United and Jose want him, why idk. He should be on the next plane out of Manchester with a one way ticket , no player should hold our club to ransom and he is hardly blessed with talent

I'll agree with you on that. The sight of Fellani in a Man United shirt makes my blood boil. I'll never forgive Moyes for this.
