Olivier Giroud has been a near-constant in the Arsenal first team since his arrival in 2012.

Whilst Arsene Wenger moved to reinforce his attack on several occasions over the last few years, Giroud has oftentimes been the sole survivor, and that is reflected in the near 150 league appearances that he has made over the last 4 years.

This season, however, has proven to be a very different period for the Frenchman.

For the first time in his Arsenal career, he finds himself on the bench – with Arsene Wenger opting to utilise Alexis Sanchez as a striker ahead of the more natural Giroud.

This, according to our landlord, is a bad move for Arsene Wenger – and whilst it is working at the moment, he thinks that in the long-run – the decision could come back to haunt Arsene Wenger.

With that said, here are 2 reasons why Olivier Giroud simply must start every Arsenal game from now on…

 Goalscoring Record

We’ve already touched on the fact that Giroud has been a constant part of the Arsenal first team over the last few years – but that only tells half the story.

Of course, Giroud has so many aspects to his game that make him an incredible striker and one of the most important members of the Arsenal first team – but the main goal for a striker is to score; and Giroud has had no problem doing that over the last few years.

He’s scored nearly 60 goals in just 138 league appearances, which represents a record just shy of 1 goal in every 2 games – which is remarkable.

Very few strikers are able to produce so many goals over such a long period in the Premier League – so Giroud is an anomaly.

Wenger can count on Giroud for goals – and so it makes sense to start him every week.

 Alexis Sanchez

This argument has far less to do with Giroud, and far more to do with Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean winger has replaced Giroud in the Arsenal first team – and our landlord simply cannot work out why.

Sanchez has looked good up-front, of course – but he is even better in his more natural position on the wing.

It makes no sense to play players out of position, and Giroud has proven his quality when given a regular starting berth.

Individually, both players are good – but when playing cohesively in their natural positions alongside Mesut Ozil; they are unstoppable.
