Glasgow Rangers: Gers delighted with Joe Aribo

Glasgow Rangers continued their fantastic pre-season form against Nice in their last match in the Veolia Trophy before returning home.

The Gers beat the Ligue 1 side 2-0 thanks to goals from Jermain Defoe and Jamie Barjonas, and they looked comfortable throughout the match. That came after another 2-0 victory, this time against Lyon, whilst they also prevailed against Hamilton 2-1 before flying to France.

There were plenty of impressive performances from the Gers on Saturday, but one that particularly stood out was Joe Aribo. The 23-year-old gave the assist for Defoe’s opener, and it appears that the Ibrox outfit’s supporters were delighted with his display overall – with nine goals last year and valued at £900,000 by Transfermarkt, this could well be a big season for the Nigeria international.

The club’s supporters, though, were delighted with the display, and they took to Twitter to share their thoughts – one fan even called “majestic”. Others compared him to other quality midfield players, with one suggesting Kai Havertz has posted of Aribo in his bedroom, whilst another said that the ex-Charlton played like ‘prime Vieira’ – the Frenchman incidentally was in the opposition dugout as he now manages Nice.
