Glasgow Rangers: Gers can sign Kamberi for bargain, but Hull City lead the way

As per The Daily Record, Glasgow Rangers could sign Florian Kamberi for the bargain fee of £150,000, but Hull City have already made the first move.

Kamberi joined the Gers on loan from Hibernian in January, eventually scoring one goal in nine games before the term was brought to a premature end.

The 25-year-old reportedly wants to make the move to Ibrox permanently, although the Gers do not seem sure whether they want to sign him. Here, the Record report that he could be available for a bargain, but the Tigers have already made their first move – they have had two bids rejected.

It is hard to argue that Kamberi set the world alight at Ibrox during his short spell there. One goal in nine matches, especially compared to Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, who scored 29 and 17 respectively in all competitions in the past campaign, is far from impressive.

Even for £150,000, which is just 27.7% of the player’s £540,000 Transfermarkt value, it seems like a transfer that Steven Gerrard and co should avoid. That sum could be put to good use elsewhere, perhaps as an extra wage incentive for another potential new recruit. The fact that he is available for a bargain price should not tempt Ross Wilson to make a concrete move.

As the Gers look to close a 13-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership to fierce rivals Celtic, they need to be particularly astute in the transfer market. Signing Kamberi would be going against that.
