The issue is, though, that his current club Genk want £3.55m to part ways with him, whilst the Ibrox outfit want to first sign him on loan with an option to buy. As such, a deal could be difficult.

The 25-time Slovakia international will be familiar to one current Ger, at least – Ianis Hagi played with the central midfielder with the Belgian outfit before signing for the 54-time Scottish champions. Hrosovsky made 27 appearances in all competitions for Genk last term, including five Champions League appearances.

Before that, he spent a considerable amount of time with Viktoria Plzen, featuring 214 times for the Czech side. That also brought him a certain amount of success, as he won the title three times – they beat the likes of Slavia and Sparta Prague to the top spot.

Currently valued at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, it appears the fee Genk are demanding is about right. Of course, it would be a considerable investment for the Gers, but he could help Steven Gerrard win the Ibrox outfit their first major trophy since 2011.
