The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were pretty impressed with their side’s midfield duo against Everton. Both Danny Drinkwater and Ethan Ampadu made their full debuts together in the heart of the Chelsea team, and they looked very good indeed. Offering composure, defensive solidity and offensive flair, they were simply fantastic. They’ve been able to enter the fray at a pretty good time for the Blues. Antonio Conte has had very few options in the role this season, with a general lack of depth and fitness issues involving N’Golo Kante causing a problem.
Fortunately, with regards to the latter issue, Antonio Conte has provided some very good news on the matter. Speaking following Chelsea’s cup game, the Italian has revealed that N’Golo Kante has made huge strides in his road to recovery – with the Frenchman now said to be ready for first-team action.
Conte says Kante is progressing well: 'We have to find the right moment to put him in the team, but he is ready.' #CHEEVE

This is, of course, huge for Chelsea, with N’Golo Kante arguably the most important player for the Blues. His defensive qualities allow everyone else to push on offensively, and without that, as we’ve seen over the last few weeks, Antonio Conte’s men have struggled to create.
The sooner he returns the better, and the fans in the pub have been toasting to this news over their last few drinks.
Landlord’s Verdict
Kante is indispensable to this team, and whilst the likes of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas have looked good, they offer very different qualities to Antonio Conte’s team.
Against bigger sides, Kante is a huge miss – and so with a Man Utd clash on the horizon following Chelsea’s clash with Bournemouth, our resident Blues are hoping that he will be back in time. With the way that Conte is speaking, he could even be available against Bournemouth.
