Manchester City have enjoyed a solid start to the season and their supporters here in the Tavern are pretty pleased with how things are going at the mo!
An awesome 3-1 win over Barcelona in the Champions League really made the world stand up and take notice, whilst things have been going pretty well in the league too.
But after being held at home to newly-promoted Middlesbrough it’s clear that while things have the potential to be good this year, City could really do with a couple more top players to really bolster their ranks.
And with the African Cup of Nations very much on the horizon, we wanted to find out if any strikers from Africa might be good enough to compete in this Manchester City forward line.
So with that in mind, here’s 2 African strikers Pep Guardiola must bring to Manchester City this January…
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
As top strikers in the world go, you can’t get much better than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has been in sparkling form for Borussia Dortmund again this season.
He scored four times as Dortmund beat Hamburg 5-2 away a few weeks ago and his quality just never seems to be off, especially when his side need him more than ever.
But at City, he’d get the world stage to show what he can do and you wouldn’t put it past Guardiola and the executives making a move to try and tempt him to England.
He’d be superb.
Moussa Konaté
This is a real curveball and a player most City fans might not have heard of, but if there is one man that is garnering a real reputation in Europe right now, it’s Moussa Konaté.
The Senegalese striker, who plays for FC Sion in Switzerland, has been touted by our punters with a Premier League move in the past – and it’s easy to see why.
He’s a pacy, hard-working forward who many Sion fans have likened to Sadio Mane, especially after his flying start at Anfield. Konate could prove to be a real diamond in the rough and a cheap option.
Worth a gamble? We think so.
