City fans here in the Tavern have been pleased with their sides testing performances this past week, in having to find late goals it becomes a great test of resilience for the league-leaders. With Danilo having been a regular since his move to Manchester from Real Madrid back in the summer months, the development of Fabian Delph has done nothing but condemn his place in the side, which has perhaps been a surprise for many fans here in the Tavern after all the buzz that surrounded the Brazilian.
For a player that many had high expectations for, he’s yet to re-discover the form that earned him the move to the Premier League in the first place. Having made 12 appearances all season, it’s beginning to look as if his days in a City shirt are numbered due to him being used solely as a reserve for right-back Kyle Walker, combined with the rise in form for their newly transformed left-back Delph.
So without an inroad into the City starting line-up, questions are being asked here in the Tavern about the future of their out of favour defender, with the Brazilian now eyeing up a move away from Manchester to fulfil his World Cup aspirations.
Still, surely an injury to one of the wing-backs could expose the lack of cover and spell trouble for City should he be sold?
However, in what is a side at the very top of their game, a move away would be beneficial for both parties. Though it’d leave bodies light for a bit, Benjamin Mendy won’t be too far away from an injury return after January and any disruptive people in the dressing room could have serious implications on City’s campaign.
So, with a rampant City side looking to avoid any setbacks at all costs, should Pep Guardiola look to sell Danilo in the January transfer window?
