Many West Ham fans were dealt a blow with the news on Sunday that the match against Manchester City was postponed due to bad weather conditions.
However, it was not a disastrous day as relegation rivals Bournemouth lost at Sheffield United while the rearranged fixture could work in their favour due to City’s hectic fixture schedule. Indeed, perhaps fatigue may give the Hammers a greater chance of getting something from their visit to the Etihad, particularly if they are roared on with the same level of vocal away support as a weekend game would attract.
To ensure that happens the club has announced it will lay on free coach travel for supporters wishing to attend, a nice gesture that may be an attempt by the board to win back some disgruntled fans.
Some recognise the act as a generous offer and have praised the decision as a result, but others are focusing instead on the hardship of those who travelled only to see no match and want financial compensation for their travails.
