‘Handed the title to United’ - Man City fans feeling nostalgic following club’s Twitter post

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are absolutely ecstatic with their sides record-breaking opening to the campaign.

Pep Guardiola has turned his City side into one of, if not the most formidable opposition in European football right now. City saw their points total rise to 37 points from their opening 13 league matches following victory at Huddersfield on Sunday to set a new Premier League record for their points tally at this stage in the season.

However, City broke another peculiar club-record against Huddersfield last Sunday after recovering from a half-time deficit to claim all three points at The John Smiths Stadium.

Prior to the weekend, City had not managed to overturn a half-time deficit away since they came from 2-1 down to beat Blackburn 3-2 at Ewood Park a whopping 22 years ago.

In light of this information, the club’s official Twitter page published a post comparing the side that defeated Huddersfield with the one that defeated Blackburn in 1995.

And plenty of The Citizens faithful were feeling nostalgic looking back at some of their former heroes on the team-sheet.

Meanwhile, rival supporters took the opportunity to suggest that City fans would not recognise the former players after jumping on the bandwagon of success in recent years…
