Hazard out: 42% of Chelsea fans want £40.5m-rated attacker to replace Belgian ace

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern were a little disappointed by the form of Eden Hazard last season.

Though the Belgian was one of Chelsea’s better players, he certainly wasn’t at his best. He struggled to follow up on his title-winning form from the year before, and inconsistency began to plague his game on a week-by-week basis.

We recently suggested that it might be time to replace the attacker with a younger player that has a lot of potential, with Malcom of Bordeaux a potential option.

Malcom, who is rated at £40.5 million by Transfer Markt, has enjoyed a brilliant year or so, having impressed in the French top flight.

We asked fans whether they’d like to see Chelsea sell Hazard in favour of Malcom, and it seems as though a fair few fans are behind the idea. 42% of those polled would like to see it happen.

Of course, whilst a majority want to see Hazard stay, these results are still interesting.

Hazard is their best-known player, and so you’d expect him to be near-unanimously supported. However, that’s clearly not the case, and fans are beginning to turn on him it would appear.

Fans are also, clearly, very impressed by Malcom – who offers brilliant technical ability and goalscoring acumen.

It will be interesting to see what happens this summer, and whilst Chelsea will no doubt do all they can to keep Hazard, it appears as though some fans, at least, wouldn’t mind him leaving.
