‘He will do wonders for our club’ - Chelsea fans react as the Blues finally seal defender deal

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a busy end to the January transfer window. For the most part, it has been a quiet few weeks for the Blues, but that has changed already today – with more potentially on the way.

Overnight, the Blues confirmed a deal that most in the Transfer Tavern have been expecting for a while. Posting on their official Twitter page, Chelsea have announced that a deal to sign Emerson Palmieri has been completed – with the left-back moving from Roma to West London.

It’s a move that Chelsea clearly needed. Their lack of depth on the left-hand sided is clear for all to see, with Marcos Alonso having to play in pretty much every game for the club so far this season. That will now be able to change, though, with Palmieri more than good enough to give him a run for his money in the first team.

An offensive left-back, Palmieri is a fantastic runner and is excellent at driving forward, whilst he’s also a very strong tackler and he is solid defensively.

Unsurprisingly, given Chelsea’s needs, it’s a move that has gone down well amongst the Blues faithful. Fans have taken to Twitter en masse to react to the news, and it’s fair to say that it is a popular deal.

I watched his videos. He is a good Left Wing Back. Younger than Sandro; Has potential to be better than Sandro; Cheaper… And if Alonso could develop his game to this level, why not him?
