The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been weighing up whether or not they want to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic or not, but with Fulham very interested and the Serbian wanting to leave, it all looks set for Mitro to depart.

The writing has been on the wall with Mitrovic for a while now. Rafa Benitez doesn’t think the striker is what he needs at St James Park and whilst he continues to split fan opinions, it looks like Mitrovic’s future lies away from the Northeast. Fulham benefited greatly from Benitez’s lack of trust in the Serbian as the Magpies loaned him out to Craven Cottage in January. His goals proved vital to Fulham as they secured promotion via the playoffs and now the Cottagers will be hoping to sign him up permanently.
This summer could be a key one for Newcastle United. The fans will be hoping they can kick on from last season’s 10th placed finish when they start their Premier League campaign again in just over a months time. In the five or so weeks they have until the new domestic season they have a lot of work to do. Benitez will be keen to sell Mitrovic and cash in, using the money to bring in some players to fit the mould of the club, with Chelsea’s Kenedy one of those that has been linked with a move to the club after his loan spell last season.

The Geordies in the Tavern aren’t too fussed to be losing Mitrovic, and they’ll be pleased if the money gets reinvested into the club.
