After a positive start this season, Sunderland suffered their first defeat under Jack Ross as they lost 2-0 to Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
Under new owner Stewart Donald, the club brought in the 12 new players to try and stop their slide down the leagues.
After two successive relegation campaigns, Sunderland fans will have hoped that the fleet of new players will get them back into the Championship.
At the back, Sunderland brought in four new players to try and address their leaky defence which conceded 80 goals last season.
One of those defensive recruits was former Hearts defender, Alim Ozturk. The Turkish under-21 international made his second start for the club against Sheffield Wednesday last night and in truth, he didn’t have a great game.
After bringing in so many players in one window, there was always a chance that one may not perform to a high enough level, however, that didn’t stop the Sunderland fans from criticising their summer signing…
Hope I'm proved wrong but he looks terrible. He wasn't great in pre season. Think league games it be looverns and Baldwin at the back

Hapless & out of depth? Really? Ozturk was hapless & out of depth. Their was daylight between respective performances. Baldwin probably for me.

Even in defeat I'm proud of this Sunderland team. All we're lacking is another striker and all Ozturk is lacking is a brain #safc

We desperately need to sign a striker on loan and possibly Defender as well, how poor Ozturk has played hope too never see him again in a Sunderland shirt
