The closing stages of the transfer window saw Arsene Wenger FINALLY make some headway in the transfer market, much to the delight of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern.

It’s been a long time since the Gunners propping up the bar looked upon their TT pint glasses as half-full, rather than half-empty, though a late double deal had them dancing on the pool tables.

Well, that’s if reports from Goal are to be believed.

They yesterday claimed that representatives of Liverpool and England forward Daniel Sturridge had been in contact with the North London giants over a potential loan season-long loan deal.

While the Reds themselves are believed to have had little interest in allowing the 26-year-old a move away from Anfield, it hasn’t stopped mouths watering on Twitter.

Despite his injury problems, the former Chelsea and Manchester City ace is exactly the kind of master marksman Arsenal so desperately require.

Clearly, nothing materialised on that front in the end, though the mere notion of it has sent Gunners on social media into an utter state of delusional meltdown.
