Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are once again feeling down at this point in the season and you cannot blame them.

The Gunners had once again looked like they were going to be big title challengers this season before yet again hitting a slippery patch of form that’s once again left them out of contention for the league.

They lost at the weekend to Chelsea in a performance that smacked of all the frailties that have riddled the club over the last ten years and our landlord reckons they seriously need to worry about losing Alexis Sanchez in the summer – especially with the likes of The Mirror suggesting a move could be on.

The Chilean must be getting fed up of false dawns with the club and our landlord thinks that if the Gunners do not do these two things in the summer window he’ll be off, because there’s bound to be plenty of clubs keen on him…

Why on Earth haven’t Arsenal done this yet?

The Gunners have played Sanchez through the middle at times this season and whilst he’s done well that simply shouldn’t be happening at a club like the Emirates side. Olivier Giroud is either top drawer or woeful and unless the Gunners sign someone like Alexandre Lacazette they can say goodbye to one of their best players. There can be no more excuses from Arsene Wenger.

Get their best players on new deals

Arsene Wenger and the club are mucking about with new contracts and it gives the impression that the club do not really know what they are doing.

Does Alexis Sanchez really want to stay with a team that comes across like that? Because at the moment both he and Mesut Ozil are waiting to sign new deals. There’s obviously wranglings going on but if Arsenal don’t show the ambition to keep these players then they will lose them.
