Barely a day goes by at The Transfer Tavern without bumping into a West Ham United fan, with the Tavern a popular watering hole for the Hammers faithful.

Smiles have been few and far between however when serving the guys from East London this season, with fans well aware that their side is in the midst of a relegation battle.

Changes are needed in the January window, and new boss David Moyes has it all to do if he is to begin to guide his side away from danger in the second-half of the campaign.

Goals have been hard to come by this season, with the Hammers registering just over twenty strikes at this stage of the season; a dismal record for a side boasting the likes of Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll.

Matej Vydra

The Hammers have had success recruiting from the second-tier before through Michail Antonio, and could return to the Championship and East Midlands once again in the coming weeks.

Derby County are flying towards promotion to the top-flight, and much of their success can be attributed to forward Matej Vydra.

The Czech international has enjoyed a wonderful start to the campaign and has already struck fourteen goals and three assists for Gary Rowett’s impressive side.

Moyes needs to introduce form players to his side, and despite top-flight rivals Watford deeming Vydra unworthy of their side in 2016, the 25-year-old looks ready to return to England’s highest level.

If Moyes decides to take a punt on the player, he will certainly be rewarded.

Nicolai Jorgensen

Goalscorers are hard to come by these days, but Danish striker Jorgensen is a man who has proven to can find the back of the net on a regular basis.

A title winner in Holland last year with Feyenoord and the Eredivisie’s top scorer, Jorgensen has continued his fine form into the current campaign, and is proving himself ready to make the switch to one of Europe’s top leagues.

Surely in high demand, Moyes would face a battle to land the in-form striker with a host of sides interested in a deal for the player, but the former Manchester United manager must make sure he is at the front of the queue.

With a World Cup on the horizon, Jorgensen may be keen to switch to a top league to ensure he is awarded with the starting role for the Danish national side as they look to progress through a group consisting of France, Australia and Peru.

The 26-year-old is ready for a move, and Moyes must place his faith in the player if he harbours realistic ambitions of guiding the Hammers into the top-half.
