Everton supporters have been slightly more upbeat in the Transfer Tavern in the last few hours after seeing their side get back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Goodison Park on Wednesday.
Sam Allardyce’s men went into their clash with the Foxes having failed to win any of their preceding six league games, a run of form which brought the threat of relegation firmly back into the picture. However, the Toffees put some more daylight between themselves and the bottom three as a Theo Walcott brace helped them to all three points against Claude Puel’s men, who did respond late on through Jamie Vardy but were ultimately unable to avoid a ninth league loss of the campaign.
Consequently, there have been many happy Evertonians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are now eagerly anticipating their team’s trip to Arsenal on Saturday, as Allardyce’s side seek the win that could move them level on points with the Foxes in eighth place in the division.
In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Toffees fans to get their teeth into, not least a deadline day deal which saw Ademola Lookman join Leipzig on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
The England Under-20 World Cup winner has struggled for regular football at the Merseyside outfit this term, and things haven’t improved greatly since Allardyce’s appointment in November.
As such, the 20-year-old has officially made the move to the Bundesliga outfit, much to the anger of several Everton fans on Twitter…
