Celtic fans are already celebrating in the Transfer Tavern and quite frankly, who can blame them?

The Bhoys sit 25 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and the common thought is that pigs have more chance of being able to fly, than Celtic letting this lead slip.

With that said, the calls from Celtic punters in the Tavern are for Brendan Rodgers to fully develop his side and to evolve into at least a threat to other teams in Europe – something our landlord could not agree more with.

He is predicting a strong transfer window this summer from the Hoops, but feels that Brendan Rodgers must first get rid of the deadwood he does not want in his Celtic squad for next season.

As ever, our landlord’s comments have drawn up a lot of debate from the Celtic faithful in the Tavern and there has been many discussion on the players who simply aren’t good enough to wear a Celtic shirt, with some very surprising names on the list with two particular names standing out.

So, with that said, Let’s have a look at the TWO Bhoys who are getting nowhere near the starting XI under Rodgers….

Emilio Izaguirre

Emilio stood in for Kieran Tierney at left back this season following the young Scot’s ankle injury and did not do anything to convince our landlord that he brings anything extra to the side.

Many Celtic fans in the Tavern will admit that the Honduran has been a loyal servant to their club, but is no more value than deadwood at present.

Some punters have even stated that with the standard of the Scottish Premiership at present being so low, a traffic cone could have replaced Tierney throughout his injury.

Gary Mackay-Steven

A player that Brendan Rodgers simply does not fancy, Mackay-Steven has been nowhere near the Celtic side in 2017.

The Scotsman was given a run of games in December following the knee injury which kept him out of Rodgers’ first pre-season with the club, and Celtic fans in the Tavern were not impressed then and certainly don’t believe he can add anything to the side now.
