It’s not often these days that Manchester United see their burgeoning talents depart for pastures new, much to the delight of the Red Devils in the Transfer Tavern.
Such is the lavish nature of life in the Premier League, it would be difficult for a foreign team to lure even a youngster away.
While that notion proved a comforting thought a few weeks ago when the truly exciting Angel Gomes was linked with a move to Barcelona, comments from his father today have not.
Gil Gomes, a former player in Portugal, has been speaking to newspaper A Bola and refused to deny suggestions that other clubs are chasing the 16-year-old prodigy.
Currently the captain of the England U17 side, the goalscoring midfielder is believed to be one of the highest rated talents to emerge from the club’s academy in recent years.
With the Blaugrana reportedly keen, his father has remained rather coy on the matter.
“The important thing is that Angel continues to have all this pleasure in playing football”, he said.
“I don’t deny that many clubs ask me about him, but that’s what he always says… the next dream is to play for Manchester United’s first team, a club where he has been growing.”
How far can Angel Gomes go? Let us know below…
