Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are enjoying seeing an old purchase finally making his mark in North London and are pleased by reports that he wants to stay at the club.
Metro reveal that Costa Rican international Joel Campbell wants to stay at Arsenal, after finally making an impression following five-years at the club that have been packed full of loan spells across the continent.
The 23-year-old spent time with Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiakos and most recently Villarreal, with question marks over his suitability to the Arsenal squad, but he’s made a mark following recent injury troubles.
With Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out of action, Campbell has been entrusted with a first-team spot and has paid-back Arsene Wenger’s faith since, scoring his first goal for the club in a 3-0 victory over Swansea City last weekend.
Now Campbell’s agent, Joaquin Batica, told Metro his client’s intent is to stay at Arsenal and win titles.
‘Joel wants to be successful with Arsenal and wants to stay. He was very happy after scoring his first Premier League goal. He just wants to be successful and win trophies for Arsenal. That’s all he focused on.’
Campbell will remain in the team for this weekend’s crucial North London Derby, with fans at the bar hoping he replicates his fine performance from last weekend.
