Everton will be desperate to seek improvements after suffering defeat at the hands of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park last time out.
The Toffees will still be hoping that they can secure a European place in the current campaign, despite failing to bring in any players during the January transfer window.
Interestingly, the Merseyside club were reportedly attempting to sign Michy Batshuayi permanently last month, but they failed to secure his services as Crystal Palace drafted him in on loan.
So, perhaps Marcel Brands will soon regret not paying the money to bring him to Goodison Park as Cenk Tosun put in another woeful performance against Wolves last time out.
Everton already have Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea, so they needed to sign Batshuayi on a permanent deal as the Premier League rules state clubs cannot loan more than one player from another Premier League club at one time.
Interestingly, Everton were reportedly unwilling to pay the £35 million asking price that Chelsea set, which could come back to bite them. Indeed, Marcel Brands should have gone all out to secure the services of the forward as the Toffees are now left looking worse for wear, with Cenk Tosun leading the line hopelessly.
Everton now find themselves trailing in the race for a European place and they’ll struggle to challenge from here on in without a prolific striker in their ranks.
Michy Batshuayi enjoyed a prolific spell at Borussia Dortmund back in 2018 and he’s shown that he can score an impressive amount of goals in English football, as he managed to grab 12 in all competitions for the Blues last season, despite spending the second half of the campaign in Germany.
The forward’s pace, power and finishing ability would have made him the perfect addition at Goodison Park, with the likes of Richarlison, Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson thriving off quick play in the final third. Indeed, the one thing that’s missing for Everton at this moment in time is goals at the pinnacle of the attack, which is why they simply should have paid the price to sign the Belgian permanently as he can guarantee goals and has plenty of potential.
