Everton suffered another defeat over the weekend after they lost 3-1 to Wolves in the Premier League at Goodison Park.
The Merseyside club now find themselves sitting ninth in the table with manager Marco Silva since coming in for criticism in a season that is proving to be a disappointing one for both the Portuguese coach and his side.
With that in mind, as things stand, it would not be a surprise to see Silva removed from his position at the end of the campaign. In this moment of time, he is looking like the next big Premier League fraud.
Despite some impressive performances back in the 2016/17 Premier League season, Hull City were still relegated under Silva while, after a promising start at Watford, the 41-year-old once again found himself taking his team in the wrong direction.
And at Everton, history looks to be repeating itself. Considering the squad they have, simply put, Silva is underachieving as his side continues to underperform on the pitch.
Realistically, Farhad Moshiri nor any Everton supporter would have expected Silva to lead the Toffees into the Champions League at the first time of asking.
Rather, securing that spot just outside of the top six would have been seen as a more reasonable goal for everyone associated at the club.
But with the way they have been playing of late and with Watford and Wolves, who are both above Everton in the table, looking like much better teams, not even that seems attainable this season — which should not be the case.
With the likes of Richarlison, Andre Gomes and Gylfi Sigurdsson, Everton have one of the technically better squads in the division. That trio alone should be making the difference for the Toffees.
Ultimately, things need to improve at Goodison Park or Silva’s credentials as a manager risks taking a massive hit.
