Tottenham kept their title ambitions alive after they were able to beat Newcastle United 1-0 at Wembley over the weekend thanks to a late Son Heung-min strike.
Son, who recently returned from the Asian Cup, has been in excellent form this season and is now deservedly winning plaudits left, right and centre.
But as well as the South Korean, midfielder Harry Winks also warrants some praise as he continues to become a more important figure for the north London club by the day.
Winks, who has had his own fair share of injury problems, has come into the Tottenham side with Victor Wanyama struggling for fitness and Mousa Dembele no longer an option after his move to China, and has absolutely thrived.
The 23-year-old, of course, netted the last-minute winner in his team’s recent 2-1 win over Fulham, though it was his overall game that was and has been impressive.
From midfield, Winks has been helping Mauricio Pochettino’s side dominate games even in the absence of their key men Harry Kane and Dele Alli.
While they may not be blowing teams away in the same manner they do when the English duo are playing, with Winks in the starting XI, Tottenham remain a team capable of dominating possession.
The England international always makes himself available for a pass by finding space before looking over his shoulder to identify who or where he should play the ball to once he receives it, thus helping Tottenham to retain possession and get an attacking move going.
All things considered, you would still have to consider Tottenham as outsiders in the title race. However, they are doing exceptionally well to still be in the conversation at this point after not signing a single player in the last two transfer windows with Winks certainly playing his part.
