High-flying Hibernian travel to Celtic Park tomorrow in what may be a defining fixture in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will know that a loss at home to the Edinburgh outfit would see a four point gap grow between them. With Hearts hosting Aberdeen at the same time, The Bhoys could potentially fall six points behind the leaders.
Hibs are playing very well at the moment, and the fact that manager Neil Lennon has managed both clubs gives this fixture an added significance. Celtic are chasing a historic tenth consecutive title, and it was none other than Lennon that start that run. However, he could deal a hammer blow in Celtic’s chances of achieving that feat with a victory tomorrow.
To make matters worse for Celtic, there is the possibility that star striker Leigh Griffiths may not be fit to fact the Edinburgh outfit. The Scotland international has largely been Rodgers’ first choice so far this season, and it would have been surprising if he opted for anyone else in such a big game.
However, he may have been forced to play his hand now, and will probably turn to Odsonne Édouard. The Frenchman has featured a lot for The Hoops so far this season, but rarely in his favoured role as a centre forward. Tomorrow will surely see him lead the line for the first time in a number of games, and he will desperately want to prove to Rodgers that he should be his go-to man in that position.
