It’s definitely time for Mourinho to buy these 2 Premier League stars for Man Utd in January

The Manchester United supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern have been in good spirits this week, following their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening.

It hasn’t been a smooth start to life at Old Trafford for boss Jose Mourinho and he will be hoping that the club’s recent good form can continue for the remainder of the campaign.

A return to the top four and the Champions League has to be the immediate priority for Manchester United and their supporters here in the Tavern are desperate to see their team return to compete against Europe’s elite.

One United fan is sat watching the latest football stories come in on the landlord’s new big screen and he thinks that Mourinho is slowly starting to turn things around at the club, stating that he hopes the Portuguese boss can start to focus more on the football, rather than the series of unsavoury incidents he has been associated with this season.

Tavern writer Lee Clarke looks at two Premier League stars who Mourinho must add to his squad during the January transfer window.

Michael Keane

Whilst United boast a plethora of attacking quality they do still look in need of another defender, with former Red Devils youngster Keane likely to be firmly on Mourinho’s radar.

The defender has been in fine form for Burnley this season and looks destined to play his football at one of the country’s bigger clubs at some point during his career.

One United supporter is sat chatting to the landlord here in the Tavern and he thinks that Keane should never have been sold, stating that he could be a mainstay in the United team for years if he returns to the club.

Jon Obi Mikel

Whilst the signing of the Chelsea defensive midfielder might seem bizarre for United, he is clearly a player who is highly rated by the current United boss.

Mikel is way down the pecking order under Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge and he departure looks inevitable during January.

One United fan is sat tucking into a beer and burger meal deal and she thinks that Mikel is not good enough to improve the current United squad, although she concedes that she is willing to give the Nigerian a chance to change her mind.
