The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have had a mixed few weeks…
Defeat at Leicester a few weeks ago compounded a pretty poor period for the Citizens, with the loss coming off of the back of defeat to Premier League rivals Chelsea earlier in the month. They have bounced back somewhat as of late, but things are far from rosy at the Etihad.
It looked set to be an easy ride for Guardiola at the start of the season, but as of late – it has all come tumbling down. What looked like a Premier League title, now looks more like a fight for the top 4.
The blame can’t fall purely upon the Man City boss, though, as a number of his players are simply not playing well enough this season.
Mistakes are part of the game, but when you’re making them every single week it starts to become a very serious problem.
Such a serious problem, in fact, that it’s time for Guardiola to drop these 2 Man City players…
Claudio Bravo
Claudio Bravo has been receiving a whole host of criticism in the Football Transfer Tavern, and to be honest – most of it is justified.
The ex-Barcelona shot-stopper has actually not been doing much shot stopping at all. Instead, he’s been letting goals in left, right and centre – and it is beginning to seriously cause Guardiola a problem.
Man City have never been renowned as a side that defends well, but if you want to win titles you at least need to do the easy things right – and Bravo has not done that so far.
Caballero is a perfectly equipped goalkeeper and he needs a chance in place of the summer flop.
John Stones
Bravo can’t take all the blame, though, as his defenders haven’t been doing too well either. John Stones, in particular, has been seriously struggling.
The English defender might only be 21-years-old, but he has already built up quite a reputation as being mistake-prone – and he has proven that description right this season.
Like Bravo, he has been at fault for a number of mistakes at the back – and these mistakes are costing the club.
He was always going to come under the microscope at Man City, considering the fee that was paid for him, but he simply must do better.
