Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see them flex their new financial muscle this January as they bid for a European spot.

The Blues have not had the best time of it recent months but their early season form has ensured they are still in contention for the continental spots and so some good signings could see them enjoy a decent year.

They signed the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Ashley Williams in the summer who have both made significant contributions and our landlord reckons with some more quality, the Blues could be quite the side.

Certainly, then, this January looks to be a very crucial time for the Toffees and their aspirations and with that in mind our landlord reckons they should act fast to get these two players in as soon as possible this week…

Morgan Schneiderlin

According to Sky Sports, Everton and Manchester United are discussing the potential move for the midfielder.

This is a deal that, according to our landlord, could see Everton really go up a level in terms of playing style as the Frenchman is a class act – he just hasn’t had the chance to show it at Old Trafford. If he can replicate his Southampton days the Toffees will be laughing for the rest of the season for sure.

Memphis Depay

Another Manchester United player that could be on his way to Merseyside is this man.

Memphis Depay has really struggled at Old Trafford to live up to the hype that surrounded his move and our landlord believes he needs a change of scenery if he is to fulfill his potential. There can be no doubt that he’s a decent player, though, and if he can get some confidence at Goodison Park it could be a great deal. The Liverpool Echo, amongst others, has reported this one.
