Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a good 2017 with their form taking a dramatic upturn over the last month or so.
After a pretty mediocre start to this season the Old Trafford side are starting to really find their feet this year and look confident in every game they go into.
They beat West Ham last time out at the London Stadium and their next league fixture is the biggest of them all – at home to Liverpool – in a fortnight.
By then, our landlord reckons Jose Mourinho will want to have got some new signings in to help his revolution given that the January window is open and so we could be set for some exciting deals.
Certainly, United have the capacity to spend more than most and our landlord thinks that Mourinho should tie up deals for these two in the coming days…
Nelson Semedo
With Antonio Valencia at right back United have a solid if not world class option.
He very rarely gets caught out of position and is a strong player defensively but he’s not going to get better and United should be aiming for someone who can be top-drawer. That’s where Semedo comes in, then, the young Benfica man is powerful and quick and looks set for a very bright career in one of Europe’s big leagues. He’s recently said (via The Daily Mail) he wants to stay at Benfica but what does that mean anymore? United should try.
James Rodriguez

According to The Sun, United are looking at signing the Colombian and our landlord thinks this would be a superb deal.
He’s not quite hit the heights expected of him with Real Madrid and could be keen on a move away to kick-start his career. With United boasting the likes of Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic this latest signing would add just another stellar name and surely have the rest of the league quaking in their boots.
