It’s been a tough season to watch so far for the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern…

Man Utd are on a pretty remarkable unbeaten record, but all is not as it seems. In truth, Mourinho’s side haven’t looked at all threatening this season, and whilst they have proven tough to beat – their current league position says a lot about how good they have really been this year.

12 points currently sit between Man Utd and Premier League leaders Chelsea, and there can only be one reason for that – Man Utd’s squad is simply not good enough.

There are a host of players from which Mourinho can choose that have overstayed their welcome at Old Trafford, and many simply aren’t good enough to play regularly anymore. If Mourinho wants to improve, he needs to move a few of them on.

With that said, it’s time for Mourinho to wield the axe on these 2 Man Utd players this summer…

 Ashley Young

Ashley Young is a decent player, but at this point, he isn’t good enough to turn out for Man Utd.

In truth, it is surprising that he has managed to last as long as he has at Old Trafford, given that he hasn’t been a regular for quite some time.

Considering the quality available to Mourinho in his role, with the likes of Mkhitaryan, Martial and Pogba all vying for a role in the attack – Young’s game time is only going to reduce.

He could still do a job somewhere else, mind.

 Wayne Rooney

This is a controversial one.

There can be no denying that Wayne Rooney has been a fantastic servant for Man Utd. He has scored goals, he has assisted, and – perhaps most importantly – he has been a leader in the dressing room for years.

However, under Mourinho, Rooney has been phased out somewhat, and much like Ashley Young – he is going to find it very difficult to break back into proceedings at Old Trafford.

What’s more, he is on a sizeable wage – and having a player that isn’t playing regularly isn’t good for Man Utd financially. It’s time to move on Wayne.
