Arsenal managed to come out of what was a turbulent transfer window with their two prize assets of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez intact, and manager Arsene Wenger will no doubt be a relieved man now that it’s all over.
The Gunners have had yet another nightmare start to the campaign, with their final fixture before the international break seeing them get hammered by a rampant Liverpool at Anfield.
However, our landlord here at the Tavern thinks that they still have enough to mount a decent challenge this season, but he thinks that to do so, the club need both Sanchez and Ozil to knuckle down and put in the hard work for their team.
There is no doubting that to the two players are world class talents. This has never been in doubt. However, some have questioned their attitudes, and it is this what needs to be addressed over the coming weeks.
The Gunners though do have some kind fixtures coming up on paper, and it could be the ideal chance for both Sanchez and Ozil to demonstrate to fans that they are indeed committed to the Arsenal cause.
If both Ozil and Sanchez can begin to put in the performances we know they are capable of, then a successful Arsenal season could still be on the cards. If however they choose to disengage and wait until January before seeking moves away, it could well be a long few months for Arsenal fans and their manager.
