It has been mentioned in the Transfer Tavern that Arsenal are reliant upon the duo of Mustafi and Koscielny in the heart of their defence, and in truth – it is very difficult to disagree.
Mustafi was a great signing over the summer, but beyond him and his French teammate – Arsene Wenger has very little choice for alternatives.
Willi Orban could be an option in that regard, considering how impressive he has been for RB Leipzig so far this season.
He has been a near constant since joining the club in 2015, and has been impressive throughout the entirety of this campaign so far. The centre-half could give Wenger far more choice defensively.
Oliver Baumann
With Petr Cech coming towards the tail end of his career, Wenger could look towards the standout goalkeeper in the Bundesliga this season – Oliver Baumann.
Currently playing for Hoffenheim, Baumann has been a crucial part of the German side’s unbeaten run in the Bundesliga so far this season – and that is a testament to how good he has been.
He has impressed aerially this season in particular – which is one area that Cech struggles in – and he has also displayed efficient shot stopping.
He has been inconsistent in the past, but he would be a stellar signing on current form.
Julian Draxler
Julian Draxler was left out of the Wolfsburg side over the weekend, and his future at the German side looks unassured, to say the least.
An exciting, technical attacker, Draxler has emerged as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents – and Wenger would be wise to look towards him.
A World Cup winner, Draxler would add a dose of exciting, impressive attacking play to the Arsenal forward line.
