Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to see some serious money getting spent in January for them to really get their title challenge going.

After beating Chelsea 3-0 earlier in the season many felt that Arsenal would go on to lift the title as the way they played was simply incredible.

Indeed, they pulled the Blues apart and looked to have finally addressed their frailties for this campaign.

If anything, though, the opposite has rung true with the Blues going on from that loss to now lead the league by a country mile and the Gunners yet again succumbing to the same old problems.

Against both Everton and Manchester City they looked out of ideas and out of fight as they lost both times and so some spending clearly needs to happen if they are to win the league this season.

Our landlord agrees, too, and thinks these two players should be snapped up by the club as soon as possible…

Miralem Pjanic

This one could happen according to The Sun and what a deal it would be.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international is truly top-drawer and would be the ideal man to bring in to replace Santi Cazorla. The Spaniard is very much still the go-to man for Arsenal when they need someone to control a game but with him getting on they’ll need a replacement. Pjanic is more than suitable, then, and would provide guile and craft for years to come.

Ricardo Rodriguez

Our landlord isn’t an Arsenal fan but even he’s been crying out for the club to get a new left back, let alone our local Gunners punters.

With Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs currently knocking about as the only senior left sided defenders Arsenal really are lacking in that area and it’s shown at times this season. Rodriguez would be the perfect tonic, then, and The Sun think they could get him – but they’ll have to move ahead of Chelsea in the race.
