It’s time for Wenger to get rid of these 2 Arsenal players this week

Our Arsenal fans are starting to feel a little desperate this season here in the Transfer Tavern and you can see why.

Things started this season, as they usually do with the Gunners, brightly as they looked once again like title challengers.

Indeed, many felt that they had got rid of the tag of being not up for the fight when the going got tough but once again we’ve seen those same weaknesses come to the fore in recent weeks.

The Gunners have lost to Everton and Man City in recent games whilst Bournemouth should have beaten them instead of drawing 3-3 on Tuesday suggesting work needs to be done, still, on Arsene Wenger’s squad.

Our landlord reckons there needs to be some outs as well as ins, though, with the transfer window now open and so, with that in mind, here are two players he thinks need to be gone from Arsenal as soon as possible…

Mathieu Debuchy

Debuchy doesn’t offer much to Arsenal any more and it would appear to make sense, then, that the club get rid of him.

With him in his 30’s it’s not like he’s got potential to grow nor does he have the time to sit around, waiting for Hector Bellerin to move on from the club. He needs to be playing and Arsenal need to shed their wage-bill and get good quality players in instead. It’s a deal that makes sense for all involved.

Kieran Gibbs

Similar can be said for Gibbs who doesn’t look like he’s going to get ahead of Nacho Monreal in the pecking order – and that says a lot.

The Spanish full back is hardly the best defender in the world and so for Gibbs to be stuck behind him suggests that he should be looking elsewhere for first team action. He could do a job lower down the division but it must have dawned on the club that he’s not good enough for them.
