Aston Villa fans were overjoyed on Thursday as it was revealed that club captain Jack Grealish was selected to represent England during their crucial upcoming fixtures.
Head coach Gareth Southgate made a number of interesting selections, including Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Arsenal’s rising star Bukayo Saka and Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes, with both Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden left out following their controversial incident.

Grealish will be in line to pick up at least his second cap for the Three Lions, having made his debut for his country following their 0-0 draw in the Nations League against Denmark.
While the 25-year-old is already considered to be a legend for the club he supported as a boy, the former Republic of Ireland U21 international will be hoping to make a similar impact with England and impress Southgate in the process.

Grealish himself stated on his official Twitter account that he was “delighted” to be named in the squad again and is looking forward to meeting up with his teammates next week, as they are due to face Wales and Belgium at Wembley in the space of three days.
