Jack Grealish gushes over Tammy Abraham on Twitter

Villa Park hosted one of the most unbelievable games of the Championship season so far last night, with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest eventually sharing the spoils in a 5-5 draw.

It’s the kind of scoreline which only normally exists in the Soccer Am studio, but it’s one which became a genuine reality last night.

Early goals can often force teams to sit back and look to protect their lead for long periods of time, only to find themselves undone later in the match – but this was no ordinary encounter.

Tammy Abraham, 21, started the day on 6 Championship goals for the season but, in a turn of events which nobody could have predicted, he ended the day on double figures after notching four goals at Villa Park.

It’s doubtful that many players have scored four goals in a single fixture in the past and still not ended up on the winning side, but Abraham is now part of that unfortunate club.

His goal scoring exploits have been hailed in the aftermath of proceedings, and teammate Jack Grealish joined in with the esteemed praise via his Twitter account.

While Abraham will naturally be disappointed to draw the game, he can be delighted with his individual contribution.

There is a general feeling around the club that Villa will need Abraham to be firing on all cylinders if they are to win promotion this season, and his showing against Nottingham Forest served to enhance that feeling.

Grealish will also play a pivotal role under Dean Smith, and a handful of unbelievable performances of his own certainly wouldn’t go a miss as Villa move towards the notoriously gruelling Christmas period.
