James Tavernier’s Rangers deal delighted Celtic fans on Twitter last night

Celtic fans may not have had an awful lot of transfer activity to celebrate of late, though supporters on Twitter were pleased to see bitter rivals Rangers extend captain James Tavernier’s deal at Ibrox yesterday.

Indeed, the Light Blues skipper, as you can imagine, isn’t a popular figure amongst the Celtic faithful, particularly after his cheeky guard of honour dig on social media a couple of years ago. The fact he’s rarely performed in the Old Firm makes the whole thing even better for Bhoys online, it seems.

As ever, the green and white faithful online have had a lot to say after the 26-year-old penned a new long-term at Ibrox, despite reported interest in the player from south of the border over the course of the summer.

With Rangers confirming the deal on Twitter last night, plenty of Celtic fans had something to say. With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the jokes and jibes.

My calendar says September and already James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos have signed two contracts at Sevco, suggests that their agents didn't do a very good job with the first deals.
