The Liverpool Echo seem to have Tottenham Hotspur fans looking up with annoyance here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim the Lilywhites had no chance of landing Kevin Mirallas.

As one of our punters notes, given Everton eventually managed to land Aaron Lennon on loan for the rest of the season, some had expected the Belgian to be moving in the opposite direction late on deadline day.

After his rather childlike antics with that penalty incident involving Leighton Baines, we thought that he could well be shipped out the highest bidder in January.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez was asked about the chance of Kevin Mirallas leaving the club, possibly as part of a deal to bring Aaron Lennon in, and claimed: “No, that was never even a consideration.”

Now whilst we think that Martinez was understandably keen to keep his best players, there is no doubting that Spurs fans here in the tavern are a little bit disappointed with their activity in the window.

After all, the one player they did bring to White Hart Lane – Dele Alli – isn’t even going to be seen in a Spurs shirt until the summer with the new signing seeing out the 2014/15 season at MK Dons.
