Roberto Firmino has gone under the radar in recent times in the Premier League as he’s lost his magic touch slightly, with the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah overshadowing the Brazilian.
The forward, who is valued at £72 million (by Transfermarkt), has managed to produce 13 goals and six assists in the current campaign which is still rather impressive, but fans will agree that he still has a couple of gears to go up if he is to reach his best.
Interestingly, BBC Sport pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has made a bizarre comment about Roberto Firmino. The 46-year-old has stated that the Brazil international can operate as a number eight.
Liverpool fans have always known Firmino to operate in the false 9 position, so it seems extremely strange to hear that Hasselbaink thinks he could operate in a Steven Gerrard role.
It’s safe to say that the 27-year-old’s goalscoring talents would be wasted as a number eight and he wouldn’t be able to influence the games as much. Also, he’d be of no use in the defensive third for the Reds and his stamina wouldn’t exactly win them games as they already have Georginio Wijnaldum and Naby Keita in the engine room.
