Manchester City are willing to allow Carlos Tevez to move to AC Milan if their Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato is included in the deal, according to LesTransferts.com Tevez has been strongly linked with a move to Milan in recent weeks and Man City believe they can use the Argentinian striker as leverage to snare the Italian club’s hugely talented Brazilian striker Pato.
According to Milan’s Vice-President, Adriano Galliani, City granted them permission on Monday to speak with Tevez’s representatives about a possible move to Italy, but they are yet to open negotiations with the Premier League side.
”Tevez is a City player. The English club has authorised us to speak to his agent but we haven’t spoken directly to City yet,”
Galliani said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
At this stage it is believed that Milan are only interested in a loan deal, with a view to making the move permanent in the summer. But City are reluctant to allow Tevez to leave on loan as they would prefer to sell him outright.
So it is reported that City will make the offer to Milan to make a straight swap deal involving Pato. Still at the young age of 22, Pato is considered as the future of Milan, so this potential deal is likely to be rejected by the Serie A club, but City are willing to try and convince Milan into a deal.
Pato has been at Milan for four years, having signed for the club at the age of 17 in 2007 from Internacional for a fee believed to be in the region of £20 million. He has gone on to make 107 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring an impressive 51 goals to date.
According to Carlos Tevez’s advisor Kia Joorabchian however, a move to Milan isn’t a certainty.
“Milan is a great club but there are other Italian clubs that have also requested information,”
Joorabchian said.
