When Jose Mourinho came out with his ‘footballing Einsteins’ comment earlier this season it raised a few chuckles in the Transfer Tavern for two reasons.
One, because some actually found it funny with what he said about the people criticising him and his side for their poor form, whilst others were laughing because he appeared to have cracked under the pressure.
Well, regardless of how you felt about it, he hasn’t cracked and United are doing okay if not brilliantly.
Mourinho, though, isn’t dropping his ‘Einsteins’ comments, though, and has called out the people who criticised Paul Pogba with it.
Reported by Sky Sports, Mourinho said after Pogba scored in their 4-1 win last night over Fenerbahce in the Europa League:
“First of all, in some of your mouths, he goes from the worst player in the Premier League to a great player in 48 hours. I am not specifically saying it is you. I say media, especially the Einsteins. We know he is a very good player. We know he needs some time to show his potential.”
Pogba has, so far, been slow to adapt to Premier League life after his return to Manchester United in the summer but Mourinho is keeping the faith with him, whilst something tells us in the Transfer Tavern that we may not have heard the last of Einstein this season.
