A story from the Daily Mirror revealed what Rafa Benitez had told his skipper what he had to do in order to earn his first call-up to the senior squad and John Cross then chimed in on the matter.

Replying on Twitter to his paper’s story, Cross revealed that Three Lions assistant manager Steve Holland would be in attendance for the Magpies’ visit to Brighton tomorrow afternoon, perhaps to cast keen eyes over the former Nottingham Forest man.
Having helped lead the Toon Army out of the Championship, our punters clad in black and white would love to see Lascelles recognised at international level.

Lascelles certainly seems to have the mentality to play for England, though is far from the finished article. Still, worse players have played more regularly for the Three Lions and he’s definitely making a case for himself ahead of the World Cup.
