The Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been a lively bunch of late with their team pushing hard to earn European qualification through the league this season.

The Toffees faithful have spent many an evening here in the Tavern praising their team following a good run of form which has seen them shoot to seventh place in the Premier League.

Ronald Koeman seems to have finally settled into life as the club’s manager after a somewhat difficult start following his arrival in the summer from top flight rivals Southampton.

A group of Everton fans are awaiting the start of  the Sunday night disco and to kill time their attentions have turned towards the summer and what Koeman needs to do with his squad is he is to challenge for the top six, or even beyond, next season.

Lee Clarke is intrigued and takes a look at two players he thinks that Everton should wave goodbye to.

Leighton Baines

The England left-back hasn’t been at his level best this season and years of playing in the Premier League is finally catching up with the Liverpudlian defender.

The 32-year-old has been a good servant for the Toffees but the club could use the summer to look towards signing a younger player who can surpass Baines in the first-team squad.

One Everton fan is perched on one of the benches in the beer garden and he is of the belief that Baines is still a good player, although he does concede that the summer could be the time to look for a replacement for the left-back.

Arouna Kone

Very much a Roberto Martinez signing, the Everton striker has barely featured for the club this season and staying beyond the summer looks unthinkable for the Ivorian talisman.

Kone turned in several workmanlike performances under Martinez last season, although he has seemingly been deemed surplus to requirements by Ronald Koeman.

One Everton fan is chugging away on a e-cigarette and he thinks that Kone is not of the required quality to improve the squad, stating that he should head the list of departures this summer.
