‘Keep him for life!’, ‘What a player’ - Man City fans on Twitter delighted by latest contract update

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted to see their side return to winning ways against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola welcomed Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle side to The Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening for their first fixture since their first defeat of the season against Liverpool, and his City slickers made no mistake in bouncing back from their Merseyside disappointment as they recorded their 21st victory of their Premier League campaign. The Citizens appeared determined to set the record straight as they duly restored their 12 point lead at the top of the table with a dominant 3-1 victory.

Sergio Aguero was the star of the show at The Etihad Stadium as the Argentine scored all of City’s goals courtesy of assists from Kevin De Bryune, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.

De Bruyne’s assist took his total for the season to 10 in the Premier League, and according to reports from The BBC, the Belgian will be rewarded for his fine form with a new bumper contract.

Since his move from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015 De Bruyne has rapidly become a firm fan-favourite amongst the City faithful, and chants of his name are regularly belted out by the punters clad in blue and white propping up our bar.

Unsurprisingly, the City fans on Twitter are absolutely delighted with the news that the Premier League’s joint-top assist provider has committed his long-term future to the club.
