Rangers: Kemar Roofe out for rest of season with injury

Soccer Football - Scottish League Cup - Semi Final - Rangers v Aberdeen - Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland, Britain - January 15, 2023 Rangers' Kemar Roofe celebrates scoring their second goal

Glasgow Rangers have been dealt another big injury blow as Kemar Roofe has been ruled out for the rest of the season alongside Tom Lawrence.

The Lowdown: Lawrence setback

Michael Beale confirmed last week that Lawrence had broken down in training, and required another operation on his knee.

He added that he would be ruled out for the rest of the season, and further confirmed that in his pre-game press conference ahead of their match against Raith Rovers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup.

The Latest: Roofe out too

Beale also confirmed to the media that Roofe has also had to have an operation, and so he too has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign with a hip injury:

“Kemar Roofe has had a minor hip operation and will also be back for pre-season.”

The Verdict: Double blow

Losing Roofe on top of Lawrence for the rest of the season is a big blow for Beale.

When the striker has been on the pitch this term, he has managed to make an impact, netting twice in six games and also reaching double figures in the previous two Scottish Premiership campaigns (Transfermarkt).

Gers reporter Jonny McFarlane even goes as far as to claim that Roofe is the best number nine at the club when he is physically right, ahead of free-scoring Antonio Colak and Alfredo Morelos, but unfortunately his injury record with the Light Blues is poor, and so it is not a surprise to hear of his latest setback.
