Liverpool are considering a loan move for Athletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan. Last summer, talk of Forlan moving back to the Premiership was rife following an excellent World Cup campaign with Uruguay but the frontman moved to quash those rumours.
Kenny Dalglish is in the market for a new striker despite spending almost £60m on Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. With rumours that David N’Gog could be set to leave Anfield, this would leave only Dirk Kuyt as the only other recognised striker at the club.
Footybunker.com reports that Liverpool favour a loan deal as there would be little if any chance to resell Forlan.
Athletico Madrid are looking to reinvigorate their strike-force having sold prize asset Sergio Aguero to Manchester City this week. With money to burn from both that sale and the transfer of David de Gea to Manchester United, the next few weeks are certain to involve significant activity from the Madrid club concerning bringing in new strikers.
This could well leave Forlan on the sidelines and he may jump at the opportunity to right the wrongs of his first spell in the Premiership with Manchester United during which he averaged worse than one goal every six games.
This itself may pose a problem though for Liverpool fans who may be apprehensive about the former United play joining up with the squad. This being said however, Forlan’s quality cannot be doubted as undermined by his Golden Ball award at the last World Cup.

ALWAYS TAKING OF A STRIKER AND WAT OF SPENDING ADEQUATE MONEY TO PURCHASE DEFENDERS…………..LIPOOL IS MA LIFE?
As a Liverpool fan I have no problem whatsoever of Forlan coming, I would love it, but I don’t think he’d join us because of the manu connection!
@Obeng I don’t think it matters anymore that he was a mancs before. I believe his connection with Luis Suarez is by far much more stronger than his former club who he didn’t have much impact in the first place. I’d love to see him @ Anfield starting the games next to Luis
@ ben
we already had paul ince at our club and he did a good job for us even though he was former man utd player.
i personally think forlan could be a super loan signing for us.
It would be great if Dalglish could import Diego Forlan to pair up with Suarez. The two combine very effectively all the time.Let LFC quickly grab this opportunity.Good Luck.
What a load of rubbish. Totally made up story as always.
Congratulations. This pile of utterly made up shyte now has your site on my hide list.
I don’t believe that it can happen like this but if they would sell him for 3 or 4 mil. or swap for Poulsen I say get him!
It’s 2 good to true just like young that’s why we had 2 get downing so don’t get ur hopes up
