Liverpool: Reds keep faint hope of signing Ousmane Dembele on loan

According to The Independent, Liverpool still have hope of signing Ousmane Dembele on loan from Barcelona.

Memphis Depay is said to be close to a move to the Camp Nou, and as a result that could mean Dembele is out of the door before the deadline.

The Independent report says that the Reds still hope to complete a move for the France international in order to provide more attacking options.

Dembele has flattered to deceive ever since completing his £96.8m from Borussia Dortmund to the Blaugrana. He has made just 75 appearances in all competitions, scoring 19 goals and providing 16 assists during that time, and his time at the club has been marred by a number of issues, including recurring injuries and several attitude problems.

Liverpool have already made one signing up front as they look to improve their their squad depth, with Diogo Jota coming in from Wolves, and in Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane they have one of the most potent strike forces in the Premier League. At his best, Dembele is a stunning talent, as he showed at Dortmund when he managed 21 assists during the 2016/17 campaign despite being a teenager. However, those top days appear few and far between – this comes across as a bit of desperation from Michael Edwards and co.
