For Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern, it’s a pretty good place to be after a solid start to their Premier League campaign.
After seven fixtures, the Toffees sit in fifth place in the league, with 14 points from a possible 21. Even the landlord at the Tavern seems impressed, and he’s even tipped the Toffees to make it into the top four come the end of the season!
We’re now headed for the international break which, providing there is no injuries for manager Ronald Koeman to attend to, should mean he has a crop of fully fit and ready to go players in a couple of weeks time – when they take on league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad.
It’s a big game for both sides and it’s sure to throw up some selection difficulties for Koeman, who has a number of players knocking on the first-team door right now.
So with that in mind, here’s THREE players who should start every game for the Toffees from now on…
Kevin Mirallas
With Ross Barkley seriously out-of-form, there is no reason why Belgian international Kevin Mirallas shouldn’t be brought back into the Everton first-team for the long haul.
He replaced the out-of-sorts Englishman against Palace and did reasonably well, showing us the pace and directness he’s brought to this Everton side for a number of years now.
Koeman has a large squad at his disposal and to get the best out of everyone, competition must be kept fierce.
Idrissa Gueye
Everyone’s talking about Idrissa Gueye in the Premier League right now and after the way he’s started the season – everyone should be.
He’s been absolutely fantastic in the middle-of-the-park and has definitely been one of the signings of the summer across the whole division. He’s out-trumped the likes of N’Golo Kante, whom many have likened him to in the past and he looks a sure-fire bet to play in every Everton game for the rest of the season.
A bargain-buy and a player that brings so much to this Toffees team.
Yannick Bolasie
It’s refreshing to see former Crystal Palace forward Yannick Bolasie doing so well in Everton colours after his big-money move to the club this summer.
He really does bring something different to this Everton forward-line and his pace, skill and trickery will be difficult for any team to defend against.
When we’re talking about match-winners, there might not be a better player in the Premier League than the Congolese international. More goals would be nice but that will come with time.
