Leeds have continued their impressive start to the Championship season as Marcelo Bielsa’s side have all the credentials needed to gain promotion.
Whilst the manager has been an inspired change for Leeds, the players have equally been as good in getting themselves well in the hunt for top-flight football next season.
To reach the top flight, not only is consistency the key but also having the right squad of players who are good enough to go up a division.
Leeds are light on numbers in defence and would definitely find it beneficial to recruit a centre-back in January, someone like Arsenal’s Konstantinos Mavropanos.
The Greek U21 star, who is valued at £2.7 million on Transfermarkt, has yet to make a single appearance for the Gunners this season whilst currently struggling with an injury.
Soon to be back in contention though, it is unlikely Unai Emery will utilise his services in defence but Leeds could really give the 20-year-old a chance to shine in the Championship.
Arsenal fans will fondly recollect his brilliant cameo appearances for them last season when given a chance but he needs regular game-time at a club like Leeds to kick-on in his career.
With Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson being the only fit centre-backs they currently have, there is an obvious need for another body at the club and Mavropanos could be the man Leeds are crying out for.
Squad depth is massively important in the Championship more than anywhere else, due to the sheer quantity of games each team plays. Leeds want to remain at the top end of the season come the end of the campaign, which Mavropanos could help to achieve.
